It's a really cool club...

I set up a studio club once a week for everyone to be geeky and practice using all the lighting and equipment. The first few weeks were a lot of fun, and to be honest, we were just messing around a little! Though this week Anna found us a model, and we got a make up artist too. We also got some fashion students involved, who has some amazing outfits. I'm really pleased that we got it to all come together, and it was great to actually take some proper pictures!

Bad Kids...

I've always been really interested in youth culture, particularly when it comes to fashion. This series of images were a part of my CACP II submission. I cast kids from a local youth centre, styling them with looks inspired by the mods and the skinheads. They were such fantastic models, with so much attitude. I was interested in the small details of their posture and the way they held themselves in front of the camera. I wanted to capture the idea of kids at an age where they discover fashion, and use it as a rebellion. Aesthetically speaking, I would have liked a different background (though it was pointed out in the critique that the colourful background was quite childlike and contrasted with the more adult styling. I don't reckon even I analyze my work that much, but anyway!) I just love how you can really see their personalities, such great kids to work with!

The picture that started it all...

It must have been about two years ago that I took this, when I was first getting into photography.
It was the first picture I took that I actually felt proud of. This is little Oscar, my mum's godson, at his christening. I think if it hadn't been for this image, I would have never ended up working with kids... and I wouldn't be enjoying my course half as much! My room is now covered in Vogue Bambini, Milk magazine & various parenting magazines (purely for the photography, though I am becoming some kind of super-mum along the way!)

(Note: When I'm older I'd like about five of these, one of them is most likely going to be called Oscar. Christ help whoever marries me haha!)
